IIS delivers a Mobile Integrated Safety and Security Enforcement System (ISSES) to Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KTC). The mobile ISSES will allow KTC to meet both their Highway Patrol (HP) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) mandates. This new addition compliments KTC existing ISSES program, making the state of Kentucky a national leader for using leading-edge technology in their efforts of saving lives on their highways.

Edmonton police will be spending the next three days checking roads for unsafe commercial vehicles using IIS mobile Thermal Imaging Inspection System. Alberta is the first jurisdiction in Canada to use the technology, which allows instant detection of unsafe equipment on passing vehicles.

IIS was a presenter at the Transportation Border Working Group (TBWG) workshop held in Detroit, Mich. IIS featured the Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) as a new technology for data collection.
The TBWG was formed in 2001 by Transport Canada and the U.S. Department of Transportation to increase the coordination between the U.S. and Canada on transportation along our shared border. Its mission is to facilitate the safe, secure, efficient and environmentally responsible movement of people and goods across the Canada-U.S. border. IIS collected and provided CMV time travel data using our Time Travel Measurment System (TTMS) and ALPR Technology to the Bureau of Intelligent Transportation Systems and Freight Security (BITSAFS) at the University of British Columbia. This data was used in their report to Transport Canada on the "Benefit Assesment and Quatification of Electronic Screeining at Weigh Stations in British Columbia". BITSAFS leads the research and development of intelligent transportation systems in the province.

IIS delivered two additional mobile units of their Thermal Imaging Inspection System (IRIS Van) to Alberta's Infrastructure and Transportation Department, specifically to their Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Branch fleet.

IIS and Alberta's Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Branch received the Alberta's 2008 Minister's Award for Transportation Innovation for their Thermal Imaging technology and Thermal Imaging program respectively. This award is in recognition of IIS "Innovation" for using Thermal Imaging to detect mechanical violations on moving commercial vehicles.
